It's tough to stay motivated to workout when the days are shorter and the temperatures dip.
It's easy to fall into a vicious cycle of excuses that destroy momentum and kill motivation to be active.
Here’s a few of my ideas to boost your mood and help you to get active!
Find a workout buddy
You’ve probably heard this one before, but it’s one of the easiest ways to stay on track in the winter. Not only do they help keep you accountable by “forcing” you to show up, but misery loves company.
Warm up inside
Put your earphones on, create a new playlist to get you through winter! Start warming up with some active stretches, some leg swings, butt kicks, star jumps some body weight squats – it will help get the blood flowing to your muscles and joints as well as reduce your chance of injury.
Dress the part
Wear appropriate winter performance gear; base layers are my favorites! Something dry and lightweight that protects you from the elements, but light enough to tie around your waist once you warm up.
Don’t think just go
Don’t give yourself time to talk yourself out of it. Once you get going you’ll be warm in no time and it will make your day! It will help you maintain a healthy attitude, as well as body.
You know you'll be glad you did it the moment you get back home and you step into the shower.
